TET - 33" - M La - 6" Orange-Gold with a velvety wine-purple eye above a green throat and a slightly coloured edge. Ext sev to ev; 4 way branching; bud count 25+; Re-bloom; Reg 2005; From the first time this FOOLED ME offspring and full sib to MULAN was observed blooming, it has stood out as one of the top daylilies hybridized at Culver Farm Daylilies. The plant is vigorous, healthy and adjusts easily from dividing. The tall strong scapes display wide long 4 way or more branching that display the very bold large flowers very well. Each year that it has bloomed, it has shown that it indeed is one wonderful daylily. There is one issue it does have and that is consistency of the petal colour depending on the type of soil it is grown in. It seems if grown in lighter or sandier soil, the colour is much more vibrant. It almost has a metallic aspect in the petal colour and more of a very bright gold colour and less of the orange. When grown in heavier soil, the petal colour tends to go more to the orange colour than the gold. Both variables in the petal colours are very much different to the point one would wonder if it was the same daylily, but it is. The eye colour seems to stay more in the same line of colour when grown in different types of soils than the petal colour itself. I have never seen in my own hybridizing beds a daylily that can change as much as LORD TRICKSTER can and that is why the name was chosen. My most used parent in my eyed program and it has rewarded me with outstanding results in that endeavour. The offspring of LORD TRICKSTER are some of my finest seedlings blooming in the hybridizing fields. Most are very large flowers with large bold coloured eyes. The plants under those flowers have shown themselves to be vigorous and very healthy growing. LORD TRICKSTER's semi-evergreen to evergreen nature survives and grows vigorously being totally exposed to the elements in our climatic zone 5 location at the farm. Easily fertile either way, producing very large quantities of good germinating seeds. Another good quality of this daylily is it takes all this stress of producing pods in stride and performs amazingly well the next bloom season. Reliable re-bloomer, that blooms over a very long time. One of my very best. Not just another yellow, orange or gold with a purple or red eye. Truly a standout daylily on its own. Tied for 5th place in the Ontario Daylily Society 2009 popularity poll.Price: $25.00 (DF)
